Over the course of 13 editions, the Algarve Bike Challenge has played an important role in promoting the Algarve and Portugal as cycling tourism destinations, while also contributing to the development of nature-based and sports tourism.
The Organisation provides everything participants need: accommodation in a four-star hotel, buffet breakfast, Saturday dinner, food and drinks during the stages, post-race recovery services, technical support and much more. All they need to focus on is what truly matters: RIDING.
Every stage starts and finishes in Tavira’s historic centre, following a different route through hills, valleys and streams, and taking in the finest trails along the coast, through the Barrocal and into the Serra do Caldeirão.
But the Algarve Bike Challenge is much more than a competition. It is an unforgettable weekend filled with a festive atmosphere, team spirit and a shared passion for mountain biking. Amid the challenges, smiles and stories, old friends are reunited and new friendships are formed-friendships that last long after the finish line has been crossed.
To complete the experience, participants can enjoy the comfort of the official Vila Galé Albacora and Vila Galé Tavira hotels, where mechanical assistance and a lounge area provide the perfect setting to relax, socialise and share the highlights of each stage.
The winner is the rider or team that completes the prologue and both stages in the shortest cumulative time. But everyone takes home something even more valuable: the thrill of overcoming a challenge and the desire to return and experience it all over again.
